Working on a Sunday or overtime can mean higher pay and extra income for employees. In order to settle the value that you will receive for the additional shift, you must take into account that article 173 of the Substantive Labor Code establishes that the hour of work is worth 75 percent more than on a business day.

For example; If you have a minimum salary of $1,160,000, the norm indicates that for a normal eight-hour day, from Monday to Saturday, $38,666 is paid per day, and if the employee works on a Sunday or holiday, the same $38,666 is paid that same day. value plus a 75 percent surcharge. That is to say $67,667 in the case of a Sunday.

Keep in mind that if your contract establishes that you work Saturdays and Sundays, the Sunday surcharge does not apply, since it is in your normal working day.

In the event that a weekly workday is completed, but the worker must extend it on a Sunday or holiday, the surcharge must be 75 percent.​
