The National Government filed in Congress the bill that adds to the General Budget of the Nation 2023, which was approved last year for 405.6 billion pesos, the collections derived from the tax reform.
total, expenses are added for 25.4 trillion pesos, of which 23.2 trillion pesos are from the Central National Government without debt service. The difference of 2.2 trillion pesos in spending corresponds to public establishments and is financed with their own resources such as fees, contributions and fines.
In addition, 1.5 trillion pesos were added to debt service, which responds to exchange rate adjustments.

Jose Antonio OcampoMinister of the portfolio, explained that spending is committed in accordance with the commitment of the national government as a result of the resources of the tax reform and greater capital resources.
“These figures are in accordance with the fiscal rule. We have streamlined various requests from the government team,” he said.
Where does this increased spending go?
According to the Government, the budget modifications seek to adapt the budget to new economic, social and environmental conditions.
89.2 percent of the addition of expenses to the national government are destined to advance the transformations foreseen in the Development Plan, while 10.8 percent corresponds to the coverage of legal obligations.
The sector that will receive the most resources is the health, to which 3.5 trillion pesos more will go; and agriculture will be left with another 3 billion pesos.
“The total budget increase in these two sectors is really considerable. This is because of the importance of the health and agrarian reform. In the case of agriculture, the resources also go to a fertilizer subsidy,” explained Ocampo.

Another 3 trillion pesos will go to the Treasury sector, which will be concentrated in programs of the popular economy.
The social inclusion and reconciliation it will have another 1.8 trillion pesos; Mines and Energy spending 1.6 trillion pesos; Education in 1.5 trillion pesos; and Housing in another 1.5 trillion pesos.
For the transport sector, 1.3 trillion pesos will go; for Defense and Police 700,000 million pesos; and for Environment 600,000 million pesos.
Other sectors that will have a more modest budget are, for example,
the statistical information, that 500,000 million pesos will remain and it will be for the multipurpose cadastre, to a greater extent.
For the Presidency, 430,000 million more pesos will go and both Science, Technology and Innovation and Culture will be left with 100,000 million more.
Diego Guevara, General Deputy Minister of Finance, explained that the resources of the Ministry of Equality do not appear because they are already guaranteed by the Treasury.
