Alonso was born in Cuba, but is a Venezuelan and American national.

The Venezuelan government began the procedures to revoke the nationality of the actress and singer María Conchita Alonso, according to a resolution of the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace, published in the Official Gazette of the nation this Wednesday.

According to local media, the argument used by the Venezuelan authorities are statements by the artist in which she expressed the desire that the US invade Venezuela to depose the current government.

«I would like the United States to invade with bullets to get all those unfortunate communists out of Venezuela, since the Cubans invaded without bullets, since they gave Venezuela a gift,» he told the Voice of America last May, after a visit to the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the US Congress.

The authorities appointed the lawyer Douglas León Camero Montañez to file before the corresponding bodies the revocation of the nationality of Alonso, who was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, but emigrated with her family to Venezuela in 1962, when she was five years old.
