WASHINGTON – The United States plans to lift a Covid testing requirement for travelers from China established earlier this year, a source familiar with the matter told NBC News on Tuesday.
The plan, first reported by the Washington Post, would override China-specific requirements that were implemented in early January.
The US began requiring a negative pre-departure COVID test for travelers 2 years and older flying from China on January 5. The policy followed a spike in coronavirus cases in China after it ended its strict zero-covid policy.
This is a developing story. Please check for updates.
