In American politics, there is a small group of leaders who are, to borrow a Hollywood term, hit makers. Everything they touch seems to turn to gold.
There is perhaps no better example of this in Democratic politics than Rahm Emanuel. For those who need a refresher, Rahm is a former adviser to Bill Clinton, became a congressman from Illinois, became DCCC chairman, became Barack Obama’s chief of staff, became mayor of Chicago… and is currently Joe Biden’s ambassador to Japan.
