Two treatments to take care of your car’s paint – Economy

One of the suspicions of vehicle owners is the care of the paint, both in hot and cold climates. Exposure to the sun, rain, dust, among other ills, are powerful enemies. To keep the car aesthetically impeccable, and above all, protect it from the weather, there are many products and treatments on the market.

Teflon is one of them, it is a fluorinated polymer that has a synthetic wax base. It is the same material that nonstick cookware is made of. In turn, the transparent ceramic coating and carborundum is used in its manufacture, one of the hardest materials that exist.

Both the Teflon and the ceramic coating are two treatments that help vehicle paintwork to remain shiny and protected. They fulfill the same function, they are very similar, however, there are differences.

teflon coating

When the color is deteriorated, the solution is to paint again.

Teflon in vehicles is a chemical form of synthetic fluoropolymer that is non-sticky and reduces friction. It also improves the paint’s ability to prevent corrosion or wear in extreme temperature conditions by creating a protective layer.

Also known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), it is a synthetic polymer famous for its high resistance to heat and chemicals, as well as its low friction.

One of its advantages is that it offers a wide range of colours, allowing you to customize the look of the car while providing additional protection. The Teflon layer is typically 0.2 micron thick and can last 6-8 months.

Treatment with ceramic application.

ceramic layer

This is a chemical polymer solution, which creates an additional layer of added protection to the paint. Its thickness can be 3 microns. This treatment provides protection against pollutants such as bird droppings, tree sap, rain and UV rays.

Both coating options are great, however ceramic is more expensive, but it is also more durable and offers better protection. Both maintenance treatments from time to time and care such as using a neutral PH shampoo when washing the car.
