The Minister of Transport, william reyes, gave a part of safety to the people who travel by road. After several weeks of speculation about toll increases, they will negotiate with the government and freeze rates for the year 2023.
As EL TIEMPO had anticipated, the toll rates administered by the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and those of Invias They will not have an increase for this year.
The Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Reyes, assured this outlet that President Gustavo Petro asked them to review the possibility of not increasing the rate for various reasons.
«The effects that the winter wave and inflation have caused, in addition to the impacts on costs and the impact on sectors of the country. Therefore, the coverage of tariff risks and the imbalance in income must be compensated through the scheme of valuation», said the minister.

Minister Reyes also told EL TIEMPO that the resources that are not collected due to the non-increase in tolls, which would be approximately 500,000 million pesos, They would be removed from the budget and returned with what we will recover with the valuation.
“We have the legal power to charge valuation for the roads, what happens is nobody has done it. Obviously, the valuation will not go to the less favored classes, these families will not be charged. This valuation will allow us to raise resources to finance works or to eliminate tolls. We hope that next year this theme will be ready to start charging. The higher the socioeconomic stratum and the size of the property, the more you will pay, ”he explained.

It should be noted that the rates will only be frozen in the sites managed by the ANI and Invías. Those from the concessions are not covered by this measure, although alternatives are being sought with the private companies that manage them.
There are other tolls that are in charge of the departments, for example that of Sibaté, which is in charge of the Government of Cundinamarca and whose rise will be determined by the administration.
