According to the report of 1,000 companies presented by the Superintendence of Companies, the mining-energy sector was the one that had the greatest boost in sales.
According to the entity, the income of companies in the sector was for $245.5 billionwhich meant an increase of 80.1 percent.
By 2022, profits reached $61.9 trillion, that is, an increase of 118.6% compared to the data presented in 2021, when they earned $28.3 billion. In addition, the companies in this branch were the ones that contributed the most to profits and were higher than $137.3 billion.
Colombia must have a minimum of 5 to 6 years of oil reserves to guarantee its stability, since this is the period necessary for an exploratory cycle to be completed.
They are the largest in the country
In the case of the list, Ecopetrol once again led the table of the 1,000 largest companies and is also the largest in the sector.
During 2022, its income was $144.82 billion, that is, an increase of 70.7 percent compared to the directly previous year. In the case of profits, these reached $33.4 billion, thus doubling what was obtained in 2021.
In second place was Reficar, the Cartagena refinery dedicated to the manufacture of petroleum refining products, with revenues of 27.8 billion pesos and profits of 2.1 billion.
In third place is the Terpel Organization, company that wholesales solid, liquid and gaseous fuelswhich earned 23.6 billion pesos, for a total profit of 333,000 million pesos.
In fourth place is Carbones de Cerrejón, a firm dedicated to the extraction of stone coal, it had income of 16.3 billion pesos, for a profit of six billion pesos.
Fifth place was held by Drummond, a company also dedicated to the extraction of stone coal, reported income of 15.2 trillion pesos in 2022 and their profits were 2.1 billion pesos.
The Drummond coal company expands markets in Europe and its defense in Colombia and the US.

Cerrejón and Drummond are in second and fourth place among the largest energy mining companies, Carbones del Cerrejón and Cerrejón Zona Norte, whose combined revenues are $23.57 billion and their profits reached $6.87 billion.
The annual growth rates of both indicators were considerable. When adding the income and comparing it with 2021, a variation of 175 percent is found.
In third place is Drummond, which operates in Cesar and Magdalena. Its sales were $15.27 billion, which represents an increase of 79.7 percent compared to the previous year.. While in the case of their earnings these climbed 159.8 percent upon reaching $2.15 trillion.
In fifth place, an oil company appears again: Parex Resources. The oil exploration and exploitation company obtained income of $5.49 billion, which represents almost a tripling of the result obtained in the previous period, with a variation of 288.73 percent.
