As anticipated by EL TIEMPO on December 28, the price of the Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat) increased 11.7 percent as of January 1, 2023 for automobiles that were not covered by the 50 percent discount announced by the National Government.
The analysis made by the Financial Superintendence for 2023 concluded que maximum rates are adjusted downward for the categories that are part of the differential range in 57 percent and for the other categories in 3.67 percent.

Therefore, vehicles belonging to the differential range will continue to pay the equivalent of approximately 50 percent of the final price in pesos in force as of December 14, 2022.
For the remaining vehicle categories, the final value to be paid in pesos as of January 1, 2023 will have an adjustment of around 11.7 percent, lower than annualized inflation to Novemberwhich was 12.53 percent.
According to the Superfinanciera, the final value to be paid is the result of adding the value of the soat cousinthe contribution equivalent to 52 percent to the Administrator of the Resources of the General System of Social Security in Health (Adres) and the Runt rate.
The percentage that goes to management is used to finance compensation for medical, surgical, pharmaceutical and hospital expenses for injuries and the total costs associated with the process of recognition and payment of such compensation.
