The specialized media said that May was not as bad as April in new car sales, but the drop was 30 percent compared to the same month last year.. So far this year, sales have fallen by 24.1 percent and there are already eight months of this regressive behavior for the national automotive industry.
Every month of the year there has been a different leader
In the previous measurement, the best-selling new car was a car, but in this the leader is a truck. It is already five consecutive months in which there are changes in which there is change in the first place of the top 20 in that monthly record.
Also, for the first time in 2023 a brand different from those that assemblers have in the country occupies the first place in the monthly sales list. This is Toyota, which sold 250 units more than Renault.
For its part, Chevrolet fell to third place in new car sales for the first time in history and it is already three months in a row in that monthly count. It is 350 units from Toyota.
The top 20 is headed by a van
According to the magazine Engine, in the last four months of this year there has been a different leader in the top 20 best-selling cars. In January it was a car, in February a truck, in March a pick-up, in April another car and in May a truck.
