Despite the continuous calls from the authorities through different means, and with just over a month to go before the deadline, 4,107,200 Colombians have not renewed their driver’s license.
The term, according to the worst of the Constitutional Court, expires next June 20 and there will no longer be a new extension. Cut to last Monday, May 8, only 521,409 drivers have met that requirement this year.
The people who must renew their driver’s license are those who expired between January 1 and 31, 2022. To these more than five million citizens, through Law 2161, Congress gave them a ‘gabela ‘ of two years to be able to continue driving with the expired pass, but the Court reduced that period to one year, which is the one that expires in 43 days.
