«The dialogue is full of differences, but we reiterate the purpose of working together to defend the right of Colombians to choose how to mobilize,» said José Daniel López, who also reiterated the importance of regulating and not prohibiting the operation of mobility apps , as the income of nearly 100,000 drivers and more than 8 million users would be affected.

At the meeting, the drivers stated that people prefer mobility by these means since, «for example, In the case of women, they felt safer on the platforms, we ask for no more exclusion and also to end the persecution by the authorities for drivers and users,» they said.

The Ministry of Transportation will maintain and promote the national table with the union of individual taxi-type transportation services, so that in a maximum of two months the adjustments to the public policy that strengthen their current conditions are built.

In her turn, the ICT Minister, Sandra Urrutia, pointed out that the communications portfolio is willing to participate in more dialogue sessions, in order to mediate, advance legislation and reach agreements in the collaborative economy.

«Colombia deserves to have a legal framework that accompanies the reality offered by technology and the laws and mechanisms should not ignore its use. The principle of net neutrality would be wrong and here we must promote the care of people and the use of these applications», added Urrutia.

The tables will seek to build a public policy on the use of platforms in transport, in its different modalities, in which the representatives of all actors (direct and indirect) will participate, for the construction of solutions that contribute to the improvement of the service to users.

Minister Reyes was emphatic that the Government’s idea has never been to suppress people and «the realities cannot be ignored, the provision of the transport service must be regularized, The construction process of the draft bill will continue, but it will only be presented for consideration by the Congress of the Republic, once it has been agreed. and a consensus is obtained with all the actors», he said.
