In conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the DNP implemented a monitoring strategy so that the Municipal Health Secretariats carry out pedagogical actions to encourage the request for the survey and its application.
The deputy general director of Prospective and National Development of the National Planning Department (DNP), Juan Miguel Gallego, said that people who already have their Sisbén IV survey do not have to request it again.
What is Sisben?
It is the System for the Identification of Potential Beneficiaries of Social Programs that allows classifying the population according to their living conditions and income.
This classification is used to target social investment and ensure that subsidies are allocated to those who need them most.
In this way, it can be determined whether or not a person applies for programs such as Families in Action and Youth in Actionamong others.
Why do I need to register and update the information?
Because it is the first step to be able to access social programs that use the Sisbén as a requirement to grant benefits.
The social programs (housing, health, education, among others) determines whether or not people meet the requirements established to be a beneficiary, including the group in which they were classified once the Sisbén survey is applied.
