What is happening with Viva Air?
On Monday night, Viva Air suddenly announced that it was suspending all its operations, leaving hundreds of passengers waiting at both national and international airports.
The airline said that this decision was made by the financial and operational infeasibility that it presents, as a result of the lack of timely definition of Civil Aeronautics in the face of business integration with Avianca.
“Viva did not take this drastic step as a strategy to put pressure on the Governmentwas taken because, as we have advised stakeholders for months, our reality is that we are in a financial crisis,” the company said.

Also, make sure that this is not news that can surprise anyone within the National Government because with “total transparency” financial and operational information has been delivered to Aerocivil on more than five occasions in the last seven months.
The company also claimed that Senior officials of the National Government knew first-hand of this decision not only because of the pleas made by Viva in the days and hours before they were made, but also because of the multiple communications in which the seriousness and imminence of this decision had been expressed for months.
The Superintendence of Transportation assured that will carry out the pertinent investigations due to the breach of user rights by Viva Air, which was asked to comply with the transportation contracts agreed with the users.
