«200 Years of the Heroin Sacrifice». This is one of the legends brought by the new $10,000 coin that will be available to the public from Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
Its purpose is to exalt the figure of the most popular heroine of the Independence of Colombia: Policarpa Salavarrieta, as explained by the Bank of the Republic.
The obverse of the coin shows the image of Policarpa Salavarrieta, based on an 1855 portrait by the painter José María Espinosa. For its part, the reverse shows the house where ‘la Pola’ was affected in the town of Guaduas, Cundinamarca.
The commemorative coinwhich has a nominal value of $10,000, is legal and may be used to carry out any type of monetary transaction for the equivalent of its value.
But they will only mint 20,000 so it will have a special meaning for those who acquire it.
There is also an option that includes the coin in a special case, which costs $19,000.
