Given the landslide that blocked part of the Pan-American highway, the Ministry of Mines and Energy has taken measures that allow guarantee the supply of liquid fuelsliquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas in the departments of Nariño and Cauca.
In this sense, the first measure will be to guarantee the department’s supply through the Petrodecol plant, located in Tumaco, which made it possible to have 43,000 barrels of regular motor gasoline and 30,000 of dieselthat will begin their transit from today and will be valid until January 31.

The second measure will be the supply from the port of Barranquilla to Tumaco. The cabotage is being negotiated and it is estimated that it will start operations on January 16 to guarantee the asupply in the south west of the country.
A third measure is that, together with the Ministry of Transport and territorial entities, work is being done to start the gasoline and diesel loading in Neiva (Huila), which will take Nariño through the Mocoa-Pasto highway. It is clear that this route only allows the transit of vehicles that do not exceed 10 tons, so it is considered a complementary measure.
As a fourth measure, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in dialogue with the Government of Ecuador, authorization was requested to transit tanker vehicles from Thursday, January 12, 2023 on the Pasto-Tulcán-Lago Agrio-La Hormiga-Mocoa-Neiva-Gualanday highway. . This will allow the department of Nariño to take around 3,000 barrels of national fuel. The possibility of turning it into a recurring route will be evaluated while the emergency is overcome.

Finally, and in terms of jets, the defined strategy is that tankering will be carried out, which is an operation that takes the planes full of fuel and does not allow tanking on site. Initially, once the routes and feasibility have been reviewed, an transport jet by land by the available routes mentioned above.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the set of these measures will need and will cover the demand in Nariño and Cauca, departments in which it is expected that normalize supply in the course of this week.
