Landslide in Cauca: these are the actions to overcome the emergency – Sectors – Economy

The National Government deployed all its artillery to deal with the situation due to the closure of the Pan-American highway and the catastrophe that occurred in the municipality of Rosas (Cauca). The Ministry of Mines and Energy and several of its affiliated entities work on various fronts and solutions that allow the relief of thousands of people in the region or who travel to or from it.

As reported by the Government, Julio Fierro, director of the Colombian Geological Service (SGC), is located at the site of the landslide, coordinating what is necessary for this entity to carry out an analysis of other risks that the terrain may generate.

The authorities are also evaluating ecopetrol the installation of a pipeline that crosses the place of the collapse and that would allow the supply of fuels to the south of the country.

As to fuel gas, The Ministry is working on issuing a resolution on temporary measures to guarantee supply in the southwestern part of the country, which will make it possible to make resources viable and combine efforts among distribution agents on three fronts simultaneously:

• Via Pasto – Tulcán – Lago Agrio – Mocoa (land transport in tanks)
• Neiva – Pasto (land transport, with transfer from Tanks to Small Vehicles)
• Cartagena – Tumaco (maritime transport)

«It is important to point out that the municipality of Santa Barbara Narino It is served by sea from Buenaventura through a barge that moves about 64 tons of LPG every 36 hours. Therefore, some companies would also be relying on this logistics operation to mobilize fuel,» the Ministry of Mines said in a statement released tonight.
