On December 15, President Gustavo Petro contributed that the increase in the minimum wage for 2023 is 16 percent, that is, the stipulated amount is 1,300,606 Colombian pesos.

Then, the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés RamírezHe pointed out that this is a historic decision considering that, for the first time, the inflation figure for families with the lowest income in the country was taken into account.

You can read: This is how the extra, night and festive hours were with the minimum wage of 2023

“We have taken as a basic figure what is the inflation of the poor, that is, we have started from 14.4. For what reason? Because it is there where there has been more impact in the basic basket”.

Taking into account the tasks that are generally subject to a minimum wage, it is necessary to take into account what the increase in these trades would be. An example can be take the person who collaborates in domestic chores.

You can read: Will workers who receive more than the minimum be entitled to a readjustment in 2023?

Taking into account that this type of work, in many opportunities, is paid on a daily basis, it must be calculated how much the salary should be increased per day.

So, a working day for a Colombian citizen who earns the minimum will be $38,666. For his part, he will receive a transportation aid of $4,686, that is, he will earn $43,352 daily and this would be the total of the day and 4,833 pesos per hour.
