He flew for the first time in the United States airplane with hydrogen fuel – Companies – Economy

ZeroAvia, company focused to the development of hydrogen electric aircraftHe gave a breakthrough for the history of aviation after the 19-seat Dornier 228 plane flew on January 19, 2023 with a hydrogen-electric prototype, according to the company in a statement.

The flight took place from the facilities of the Cotswold Airport in Gloucestershire, United Kingdom, which duration approximately 10 minutesThis is how ZeroAvia made it known through its account Instagram.

ZaroAvia clarified that the plane’s twin-engine was modified so that the hydrogen electric motor could be incorporated on the left wing, in addition to containing an original Honeywell TPE-331 engine on the right side. The location of the hydrogen tanks and the power system are inside the cabin, however, it should be noted that they were only located there for the flight test.

Being an event that contributed to sustaining the environment by replacing conventional engines with hydrogen electric propulsion systems, ZeroAvia founder Val Miftakhov expressed his excitement.

“This is an important moment, not just for ZeroAvia, but for the aviation industry as a whole, as we proves that true zero-emission commercial flights are only a few years away. The first flight of our 19-seat aircraft shows just how scalable our technology is and highlights the rapid progress of zero-emission propulsion.”

This first flight is part of the HyFlyer II project, a program supported by the United Kingdom government, which aims to “development of a 600 kW propulsion system to support 9 to 19 seat aircraft around the world with zero emission flights”clarified the company ZeroAvila.

Our approach is the best solution to accelerate clean aviation at scale. Congratulations to everyone on our team and partners, as well as stakeholders for the collective effort that brought us this monumental day in history,» Miftakhov said.

According to the specialized medium on the advancement of the green hydrogen economy, H2Newsfurther test flights are expected to take place with the Dornier 228 and the renewable fuel.

Finally, the importance of reducing the use of conventional fuels is due to the fact that the aeronautical industry represents 3% of the generation of greenhouse gas emissionshowever, this sector has committed to reduce this impact by 2050, according to what was read in the technology magazine MIT Technology Review.
