«GMA3» co-anchors TJ Holmes and Amy Robach are no longer with ABC News, a spokesperson for the network said Friday, after news of their affair broke in December.
«After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes about different options, we all agree that it is in the best interest of all of them to leave ABC News,» an ABC News spokesperson said in a statement. «We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are grateful for their contributions.»
Spokesmen for Holmes and Robach declined to comment Friday.
Holmes and Robach were temporarily removed from their co-hosting duties on the afternoon extension of «Good Morning America,» according to a Dec. 5 editorial call from ABC News president Kim Godwin.
Godwin said that while their relationship did not violate company policy, it was an internal and external «distraction.» Gio Benítez and Stephanie Ramos filled in for Holmes and Robach for the week while the company made a decision.
On the Dec. 5 show, Ramos told viewers that Robach and Holmes «have the day off.»
The decision to take Robach and Holmes off the air permanently comes after the ABC anchors were seen holding hands in a car and spending time together in footage released by the daily mail The 30th of November.
The revelation of their relationship garnered a lot of attention on social media as they are both married to other people.
Robach and Holmes have been married to their respective spouses since 2010.
On December 2, while hosting «GMA3» with Robach, Holmes teased what a «great week» the pair had.
“You know, it’s too bad it’s Friday,” he said. «It’s been a great week, I just want this one to go on and on and on.»
“Speak for yourself,” Robach replied. «I’m very excited for the weekend.»
Both Holmes and Robach have deactivated their Instagram accounts since their relationship made headlines.
