Directv launched into the arena of the electronic sports (Esports) industry, which aims to be the fastest growing sector in the entertainment industry worldwide.
It is estimated that more than 200 million viewers watched the final of the League of Legends World Cup, when the mythical Super Bowl was followed by 93 million.
In Latin America, the company, through its streaming platform DGO, made a strategic agreement signed with 9Z Team, a Dale Play Group company and streamer Francisco Postiglione, known as Frankkasterwho leads Esports teams competing at the highest international level.
The idea is to implement more dynamic and modern content in an industry that weaves alliances that allow it to reach an increasing audience, in multiple ways, be it through linear channels, satellite, cable or internet.
On Saturday in Buenos Aires, the FiReLEAGUE Battle was held, the most anticipated Esports event of the year with the best of the Counter Strike: Global Offensive video game. And DGO will be there, accompanying the 9Z Team, which will carry out a battle together with another great one, Virtus Pro, in what is called The Final Battle.
“It is a milestone that a company that had the vision of becoming a media tech like DIRECTV is supporting an Esports team with its DGO streaming platform. He talks about his innovative projection and his decision to give young people what they expect as an audience”, commented Federico Vanzini, General Manager of 9z Team and Commercial Head of the Dale Play Group.
The sponsorship includes the jersey of the teams that 9Z has in disciplines such as Counter Strike Main and Academy, Male and Female Valorant, Sim Racing and R6, in all the competitions in which they participate. “Also we will be holding special tournaments and offering content so that new audiences can continue on the DGO platform”, he commented.
In addition, the company will expand streaming and Esports, for DIRECTV and DGO users, through different devices.
