As reported, the first Toyota models with a range of around 1,000 kilometers would be available in 2026, thanks to the development of lithium iron phosphate solid-state batteries that promise to reduce costs by 40 percent compared to current batteries.
With this technology, Toyota expects to produce around 1.7 million electric vehicles by 2030. They will be models that incorporate solid-state batteries starting in 2027. In addition, the Japanese are working on implementing foundry technologies to simplify and speed up vehicle production. , taking Tesla as a reference.
In a second development, the autonomy of the new vehicles would reach 1,500 kilometers from 2028, which would give more confidence to those users who still have doubts about switching to an electric car.
One of the first electric vehicles of the Japanese brand with a range of 1,000 kilometers would be of the Lexus brand, in 2026, capable of doing that mileage on a single charge.
