Until a few years ago, turbos were devices that were only seen in race cars or in the movies. His name alone was synonymous with speed and power, which draws the attention of car enthusiasts who would like to have one in their car.

A turbo can be attached or installed, but you have to make some modifications to the engine that are not included in the kits before and after installing them. besides, Not all cars or most cars made without a turbo have the space available for its installation.

As the engines have not been designed to withstand that increase in power and torque that a turbo implies when it does not come standard, the first thing to do is change or adapt the intake and exhaust manifolds.

Car engine cleaning.
You have to take into account the compression ratio of the engine and modify its maps. For example, compression is a parameter that will tell in what proportion the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder is compressed. When putting a turbo you have to modify it as well as the times and ignition maps.
In some cases there will be a need to change pistons, connecting rods and even the crankshaft so that the compression ratio can be adapted to the new requirements, as well as the cylinder head, since it must have the appropriate camshafts for the new feed.

Another important adjustment is the fuel system, you have to change the injectors or the fuel pump, change the on-board computer for one that is programmed and adjusted to the new volumes of air and fuel that will circulate through the engine.
It will also be necessary to change the pressure and the mapping of the ignition system to adapt them to the growing needs of the new turbocharger, the ignition timing must be delayed. You have to put a new air filter that receives and resists a greater flow.
Nor should we rule out the change of the clutch because when changing the engine torque, it can slip. The gear ratios will likely fall short with more power and the gear will have to be changed and not to mention the brakes because surely you need more powerful ones to stop the car.
In the same way, as the compressed air gases heat up, it is necessary to install an intercooler (radiator) to cool them, and this implies changing sensors, that is, a lot of electronics, as well as finding a way to dissipate the heat generated inside the passenger compartment.

At this point it is clear that if it is possible to install a turbo on your car, the question is: Is it worth the investment? We already see that if it is possible to put the turbo on a car that does not come standard, what you have to evaluate is whether it is worth it or decide on a car that comes from the factory.
