Minister Cecilia López explained that only highly productive land can be purchased.

More than 284,000 hectares come from ranchers affiliated with Fedegán.

The process advances to be able to implement the agrarian reform in colombia and the Minister of Agriculture, Cecilia López, assured that they have already received proposals for the sale of 1.7 million hectares corresponding to 3,420 properties offered.

Of that total, there are 420 farms that come from ranchers affiliated with the National Federation of Cattlemen (Fedegán). These complete a total of 284,000 hectares.

For example, in the Caribbean Region and Magdalena Medio there are 58,000 hectares offered by ranchers as part of the agreement signed by the National Government and that union.

Regarding the purchase process, Minister López explained that you can only buy land that is highly productivethat do not flood and that have been legitimately acquired by their current owners.

“Once you have the land and we know what is produced in that area, you have to group people together. We have 115,000 applications for adjudication, but we have to see who they are, where they are and how we group them, ”he said.
